Dr. Daniel Hayes

Assistant Principal

Dr. Daniel Hayes, Jr. is a native of Nashville, TN. He received his BS in music education from Tennessee State University, his Master’s in Education Administration from Trevecca University, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University. During Dr. Hayes’ first 8 years in the district, he taught music education to all tiers of school levels from elementary to high school. His background also reaches into athletics as he was an assistant coach for the boy’s track and field team at Hume Fogg Academic Magnet High School for 3 years. Some of Dr. Hayes’ accomplishments include being chosen as Teacher of the Year in 2018 at Granbery Elementary School and winning the CMA Music Teacher of Excellence Award twice in consecutive years. He was also a part of the coaching staff that led Hume Fogg’s boys' track and field team to 2nd place in the state championship tournament. Dr. Hayes previously worked as Dean of Students at Oliver Middle School. Not only does Dr. Hayes have a strong foundation in art as a music educator he also has a quality track record in MTSS, attendance work, and Social Emotional practices.
