Dr. Smith holds the B.S. degree in Music Education with a vocal concentration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the M. A. Ed., and the Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee State University. She joined the faculty at Creswell fall of 2011, where she has developed an award-winning, singular program in music thanks to her respect for and rapport with her students. She is creative, energetic, and loves her work. During her tenure at Creswell, Dr. Smith has garnered several grants which include Nashville Singers’ National Barbershop Society Music Makes a Difference Grant (2012; 2016), VH1 Save the Music Keys and Kids Piano Grant (2017), Music and the Brain Piano (2018), Blue Ribbon Teacher (2019); Carol Crittenden Arts Advocate of the Year Award (2020) and the Tennessee Arts Academy 2021-2022 Teacher Hero Award
