Principal Message

Welcome to Creswell

Thank you for your interest in Isaiah T. Creswell Middle School of Visual and Performing Arts. We are Nashville's only Fine Arts middle school. Located in the heart of Nashville's Bordeaux neighborhood, Creswell is truly a unique school with outstanding students who are passionate about pursuing their artistic gifts, dedicated staff, a caring community, and an amazing facility.

Dr. Trellaney Lane
Executive Principal

Dr. Trellaney Lane has served the Creswell Middle Magnet community since 2016, bringing more than 20 years of experience as an educator and school leader. A proud graduate of Tennessee State University, she holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and is deeply committed to student success.

Under Dr. Lane’s leadership, Creswell was awarded a prestigious U.S. Department of Education Magnet Schools grant, bringing significant funding to enhance academics, expand visual and performing arts programs, and improve school facilities and learning resources. These investments support engaging, arts‑integrated instruction and strong academic outcomes for students.

Dr. Lane’s leadership has been recognized across Metro Nashville Public Schools. She was named the 2024–2025 MNPS Middle School Principal of the Year and a 2025 national finalist for AVID Secondary Principal of the Year.

Dr. Lane is honored to partner with families and remains committed to ensuring every student at Creswell feels safe, challenged, supported, and inspired to thrive.

Dr. Daniel Hayes, Jr.
Assistant Principal

Dr. Daniel Hayes, Jr. is a native of Nashville, TN. He received his BS in music education from Tennessee State University, his Master’s in Education Administration from Trevecca University, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University.

During Dr. Hayes’ first 8 years in the district, he taught music education to all tiers of school levels from elementary to high school.

His background also reaches into athletics as he was an assistant coach for the boy’s track and field team at Hume Fogg Academic Magnet High School for 3 years. Some of Dr. Hayes’ accomplishments include being chosen as Teacher of the Year in 2018 at Granbery Elementary School and winning the CMA Music Teacher of Excellence Award twice in consecutive years.

He was also a part of the coaching staff that led Hume Fogg’s boys' track and field team to 2nd place in the state championship tournament. Dr. Hayes previously worked as Dean of Students at Oliver Middle School. Not only does Dr. Hayes have a strong foundation in art as a music educator he also has a quality track record in MTSS, attendance work, and Social Emotional practices.
