Connecting Arts and Academics

Where Young Artists Find Their Voice

student in theater class

Isaiah T. Creswell Middle Magnet School of the Visual and Performing Arts brings together middle school students from across Nashville who share a passion for creativity and expression.

At Creswell, the arts are central to the learning experience, with conservatories in Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, Chorus, Piano, Strings, and Band—giving students daily opportunities to explore their talents, build confidence, and find their voice.

Supporting Academic Excellence

Creswell supports a wide range of learners through a rigorous academic program that includes honors courses in every general education subject. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves while receiving the support they need to succeed.

  • Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) supports academically advanced learners
  • National Junior Honor Society recognizes scholarship, leadership, service, and character
  • English Learners builds English proficiency while fully participating in academic and school life
  • Exceptional Education provides individualized support for academic, physical, social, or emotional needs

Students involved in the arts often demonstrate higher academic achievement and stronger motivation in school, which research links to increased college aspirations and readiness.

Building 21st Century Skills

By combining arts-based learning with AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) , Creswell helps students build both creative and practical skills. Students learn to collaborate, communicate, and solve problems while also developing the organization, goal-setting, and critical-thinking skills needed for success beyond middle school.

Admission and Auditions

As a magnet school, Creswell accepts students from anywhere in  Davidson County using the School Options process.
