Parental Engagement Policy

Parental Engagement Policy

Isaiah T. Creswell Middle School of the Visual and Performing Arts has developed a written Title I parental involvement policy with the input of our students’ parents. We offer opportunities for parents to give feedback on our parental involvement policy several times a year. The document is sent home semi-annually for parents’ review. It is also on our website throughout the year for parents to review and submit changes. Additionally, we make the document available at parent meetings for review. There are also copies available in the front office. The policy describes the means for carrying out the following Title I parental involvement requirement [20 USC 6318 Section 1118(a) – (f) inclusive].

Involvement of Parents in the Title I Program

To involve parents in the Title I program at Isaiah T. Creswell Middle School of the Visual and Performing Arts, the following practices have been established:

The school convenes an annual meeting to inform parents of Title I students about Title I requirements and about the right of parents to be involved in the Title I program. This meeting takes place every August during our Open House. Parents are notified of the meeting via ParentLink, the marquee, flyers, callouts, Remind and Twitter.

The school offers a flexible number of meetings for Title I Parents, such as meetings in the morning or evening. We offer meeting in the early evening before student performances so that parents can take advantage of already being at the school that day.

The school provides parents of Title I students with timely information about Title I programs. Parents are given information about the Title I program every spring (May), every fall (September) and by request at any time.

The school provides parents of Title I students an explanation of the curriculum used at the school, the assessments used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet every year at our annual Title I meeting and Open House. Student-led data chats happen on a regular basis throughout the year. If requested by parents of Title I students, the school provides opportunities for regular meetings that allow the parents to participate in decision that impact the education of their children. Meetings can be scheduled through the front office at any time.

The Parent Engagement Policy and the Parent Compact are working documents. We welcome and encourage your feedback. Please let us know of any changes you believe should be made to either document by emailing  Christa Adams,
Thank You!
